Support & Facilities
As well as the support you will receive from the learner engagement team, our friendly learner services team are on hand to help and give advice to all our learners.
The team is made up of a number of specialist advisers who can offer support and guidance to all learners across a number of areas, including:
Our careers advisers are professionally qualified and equipped to give you independent careers advice and guidance. Whatever you need, they’ll be sure to put you on the road to career success.
We have a dedicated counsellor at the institute and offer all learners access to a confidential counselling service, which covers all aspects of mental health and emotional well-being.
The learning support service is available to all learners offering support and help with:
- Practical advice and support for physical disabilities and specified learning difficulties, e.g. ADD, AHD, Aspergers, medical conditions and mental health
- Help to access specialist equipment for your course
- Support in the classroom and in the wider college environment
- Support for visual or hearing impairment (blind & deaf)

In the interest of all our learners we have a safeguarding team who are available to talk to if learners have any concerns, are unhappy, or even if they are worried about the welfare of a friend or fellow learner. They are here to help and can be approached easily.
We have a great range of academic facilities, from our recently refurbished learning resource centre and study rooms to our outstanding computing and printing services.
When you need some peace and quiet to read or study, we have plenty of places for you to use. The learning resource centre is a bright and modern welcoming space with PCs for individual or group study and research, as well as the books you will need for your studies.
It is located on the first floor in D block and also offers a wide range of resources in various formats, including books, magazines, newspapers and DVDs. As well as books, it is home to a range of electronic resources and e-books. The learning resource centre is home to 50 PCs and 16 laptops with internet access for use within the centre. A quiet study room is also available, as well as a bookable group study room.
A FREE learner Wi-Fi system is provided across the campus so you can work from your own laptops to research online and study.

For many, choosing the apprenticeship route is an obvious choice. For others, it might not be the path they expected to follow.
Whilst learning the skills of the industry with an employer you will complete either an apprenticeship framework or standard including individualised training.
